Circumcision Correction/Revision

Many men who have been circumcised are dissatisfied with the appearance of their penis. Some may have excess scarring; some may have uneven circumcision scar edges.

Circumcision revision is a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance of the penis and penile skin after prior circumcision. The most commonly performed revision is removing excessive or uneven foreskin or straightening of the circumcision scar.

More complex surgical procedures may be required in some men to correct the appearance of the penis after circumcision. This may require using advanced plastic surgery techniques such as grafting skin from other areas or flap rotation.

In general, recovering after circumcision revision is similar to recovery after circumcision. Most men are able to resume work within 1-3 days after circumcision revision. Many men do not require pain medications beyond over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pain relievers.
